Penfield Homestead Museum welcomes you and your family to join us for our final special event of the 2017 season. There will be free admission to the homestead, church and out buildings, as well as, our two historic walking trails. The Pioneer Forge at Penfield will also be open free of charge and will feature an expert talk and tour. The day will include an artisan fair with craftspeople including local authors and weaving loom demonstration.The homestead features rooms from family life in the 19th century, military history including the Civil War and the iron ore office of Allen Penfield. There is a display featuring a replica of the electro-magnet which was invented by Joseph Henry, first Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution. It was this industrial use that earned Ironville its title as “The Birthplace of the Electrical Age”.There will be food and drink at a nominal price. Other family friendly activities will take place.
