Not only is the Bowne House amongst the oldest buildings in NYC, its original owner, John Bowne, ensured the legal precedent of religious freedom in the colonial U.S. From 1661 to 1946, nine generations of Bowne's descendants occupied and added to his home in Flushing. Some were participants in the Underground Railroad. Others were amongst the finest horticulturists in the country and were integral to Central Park. The Bowne House interior is filled with a rare combination of architectural styles and original family furnishings. Come take a tour!
