Guided walking tour of an important Revolutionary War battle site. On May 30, 1778, Mohawk War Captain Joseph Brant routed a small force of local militia and Massachusetts Continentals, and then burned half the village of Cobus Kill. It was the first of what became known as the "Border Wars" of New York. Highlights include 18th century military tactics, the settlements of Cobus Kill and New Dorlach, the Warner family and farm, participants, the battle, aftermath and effect on the region. Also on the tour is the Haviland Site, a prehistoric work camp dating back some 8,400 years, and what it tells us about the surrounding topography of that time. Tour ends with short drive to battle ambush site. Guide in period dress.
