The Delaware and Hudson Canal Museum celebrates the story of the D&H Canal, America's first million dollar private enterprise and an important 19th century industrial enterprise. Constructed with money raised on Wall Street in 1815-28, the D&H Canal fueled the industrial revolution in the US and helped make NYC the important international center it is today. The Canal Museum has a working lock model and many dioramas and artifacts from the Canal and Canal era. They also maintain the National Historic Landmark Five Locks Walk.
Open Saturdays and Sundays May-October, 10 AM - 4:30 PM.
