In 2009 a commemoration of the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson’s voyage on the Hudson River was held throughout the Hudson Valley. Fourth grade students from 31 Ulster County elementary schools participated in creating posters on the theme of discovery. Their individual and group “discoveries” are presented here, on their 10th anniversary, in various media – thanks to the cooperation of school administrators and teachers.
Throughout our history and today, visual arts gives students a window into the world around them, teaching them about their own history and culture, as well as those of other people. Seeing their work here gives us a window into their world – a world of insight, surprise, and beauty. We are delighted by their vision and hope that it is inspiration to others well into the future!
