Ontario County Historian Preston Pierce will look at alcohol’s role in life from the colonial days through the 19th century. Attendees will understand the various ways Americans sought to control or eliminate the use of alcohol, ending with Prohibition in 1919. The program will end by examining what went wrong with Prohibition, how and why it was repealed, and the lessons learned from the experience.
