Explore Waterford, NY and its history with a visit to the Waterford Historical Museum & Cultural Center! Inside are fun exhibits that bring to life the early history of the native inhabitants and early European settlers, through the colonial and Revolutionary War, and the development of the town and village up to today with the Erie, Champlain and the Barge Canal systems. There are several rooms on the ground floor of the Victorian mansion the museum is housed within, with a display dedicated to the preservation of history that this building itself is a testament to with its amazing story of being saved from demolition and moved from its original location to where it stands overlooking the abandoned route of the Champlain Canal. There's so much to experience housed within the museum walls! We are handicap accessible and parking is free for visitors.
