Untermyer Gardens was built by Samuel Untermyer in 1917. Called "America's Most Spectacular Garden" in the 1920's, 43 acres along the Hudson River are undergoing an extensive restoration, including the finest Persian Garden in the Western Hemisphere, a breathtaking Temple of Love with 5 waterfalls, and the Vista, terminated by 2000 year old Roman columns. The Untermyers were deeply involved in all of the major political, economic, social and artistic issues of the early 20th century. Come for architecture, horticulture, history and the view.
