Join us as we visit and celebrate some of the greatest performers from 100 years ago and their indelible musical contributions to jazz, pop and vaudeville history interred at the Woodlawn Cemetery. Each stop will include a brief talk about the entertainer, plus at 78rpm record played on an antique crank-up Victrola as an aural dimension to the tour. Artists include: Nat M. Wills, Fritz Kriesler, George M. Cohan, Irene and Vernon Castle, Nora Bayes, Bert Williams, W.C. Handy, King Oliver, Duke Ellington, Irving Berlin. This tour is 3 hours long and involves so short periods of walking to and from the trolley and between sites. Tour is led by Michael Cumella (aka Phonograph DJ MAC), host of The Antique Phonograph Music Program and Centennial Songs on WFMU since 1995.
