John W. Birdseye (1865 -1959): Portrait of a Young Farmer

Th Town of Gorham Historical Society recently had portrait of John Birdseye (1865-1959) as a young boy restored and preserved by Gary Albright. The portrait we have shows John at a young age and it was colorized (circa 1880's) from a photo. Mr. Birdseye was a local farmer known for his orchards and other basic crops. He is still known in this agrarian community. The portrait will be unveiled on October 12th along with an exhibit of family photos and historical documents that show what farmers went through keeping help during WWII and other wartime government documents for farmers.
