Phil Lord, a former curator at the New York State Museum, will trace the evolution of canals and navigation experiments fostered by Schuyler's initiative, first begun in 1792 with the formation of the Western Inland Lock Navigation Company. This led to New York State's original Canal Age, decades before the first shovel of earth was turned for the more famous Erie Canal. Light refreshments.
