Join us for a day of literary-themed events featuring the works of three published authors, the research of a doctoral candidate, and a historical fiction writing workshop for teens aged 12-18. A book sale and signing will follow each reading. The readings are open to the public with a suggested donation of $5.00 per person.
Author Margaret McNamara will begin the day at 10 a.m. with a reading from her picture book, Eliza: The Story of Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton, perfect for children aged 5 to 12. From 1 p.m. to 4:45 p.m., a historical fiction writing workshop for teens will be held. This includes writing instruction and guidance, a writing-focused tour of the Schuyler Mansion, and an opportunity for participants to read their stories to each other. Advance registration required, $15 per student.
From 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., the mansion will be available for an open house (self-guided) tours. This will be directly followed at 5:00 p.m. by a reading and discussion with authors Susan Holloway Scott and L.M. Elliott, and doctoral candidate Danielle Funiciello. Book signing and purchase will also be available. Light refreshments will be served.
