Clink! A Toast to Long Island Wine is the Southold Historical Society’s visual essay exhibition of the history of wine on Long Island held in the Ann Currie-Bell House on the Museum Complex (Main Road & Maple Lane). A visual essay is a sequence of photographs or other images which are either:
• Original or found.
• Taken together, the images provide a critical commentary of the wine industry on Long Island over the past 40 years.
• The visual essay includes photographs, paintings, graphs, quotes, music and objects pertaining to the Long Island wine industry.
Come learn about how and why North Fork soil is perfect for growing wine grapes and how weather affects the vintage. Will the Hawaii volcano cause a poor harvest? See photos of the changing workforce over the past 40 years. Get a map of local vineyards & wineries.
This exhibition has been made possible by a grant from the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation (www.rdlgfoundation.org).
