What was “right” about the Right whale? What was whaling’s importance for the fashion industry? How was a whale’s blubber useful to the whale? To the American consumer? Connor Flanagan, Director of Education at the Southampton History Museum has looked into every aspect of the industry that started in Southampton in the 17th century and boomed in the 19th. He will answer these questions and more in his presentation focusing on the hunters and the hunted in the great whaling adventure. Co-sponsored with the Rogers Memorial Library.
