An official Path Through History Site! Historic circa 1838 operating Lighthouse at the mouth of the Salmon River where it meets Lake Ontario. This Lighthouse is one of only four (4) remaining in the United States that retains its original "Birdcage" design and according to lighthouse historians, it is one of only two (2) birdcages that are active today. Dedicated as a "Designated Historic Landmark" in 1976 and elected to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
