The American Museum of Natural History is historic itself as a scientific and cultural institution. Created in 1869 with the support of notables like Theodore Roosevelt, J. Pierpont Morgan and then New York Governor John Thompson Hoffman, it was involved in expeditions between 1880 and 1930 that discovered the North Pole and explored Siberia. Exhibits include Dinosaur Hall, the Hall of Biodiversity, the Hall of Planet Earth, the Rose Center for Earth and Space and the New Hayden Planetarium.
