The building that originally served as a water pumping station now serves as a staffed tourist information center that provides an orientation to the City of Albany. Operated by Discover Albany, the Discover Albany Visitors Center provides information about Albany County and the surrounding Capital Region to visitors. The Visitors Center has an information desk, gift shop, and the USS Albany Heritage Exhibit featuring ships named for the capital city from 1846 to the present. The Albany Gift Shop located at the Visitors Center offers unique Albany gift items and products handmade by local artisans. The Visitors Center is open daily: Monday-Friday 9am-4pm (3pm Dec-March); Saturday 10am-3pm; Sunday 11am-3pm.
