Details

On October 6, 1777, British, Loyalist and Hessian forces attacked Fort Montgomery and nearby Fort Clinton. The defending American Patriots, outnumbered three to one, fought courageously, but were ultimately defeated. Learn about this important site at the visitor center and follow the interpretative trails to view the fort`s remains. The property offers beautiful views of the Hudson River and a footbridge crosses Popolopen Creek to connect with the Trailside Museum and Zoo at Bear Mountain State Park.
