Formally based on the private collection of August Heckscher - German immigrant, industrialist, real estate magnate, and philanthropist - the Heckscher Museum of Art, beside a Huntington Village pond, currently maintains a Permanent Collection of more than 2,200 works spanning five centuries, from the early 16th century to the present.
